Another month has passed, the festive season is rolling in, and the eventful year 2022 is coming to its end. It’s time to reflect on the past year and look at what’s ahead in 2023!

Most of 2022 has undoubtedly been dominated by the ongoing bear market, making for the most chaotic year in crypto so far, with mainstream adoption reaching peak levels and ever-growing media attention on our industry. But although the climate was challenging, we managed to learn, grow and most importantly, build. After all, that’s what bear markets are for!

If 2022 was challenging on many levels — on the district0x front, our developers have been continuously working on upgrading all districts, launching the new version of Meme Factory on Polygon, pushing the beta version of Streamtide live, and getting close to completion and relaunching Ethlance and Name Bazaar. Meanwhile, our editorial team has published countless articles spotlighting the year’s most important developments in web3, we’ve also attended numerous Ethereum conferences around the globe, and our flagship DappStream has aired over 60 times, bringing you the latest crypto updates and interviews with our industry’s thought leaders and game changers.

While the relaunch of some of our applications has taken longer than anticipated, the work delivered by our developers has been steady, our smart contracts and libraries have continuously been upgraded, and we can say with confidence that we are only moments away from going live, with the latest versions launching full steam ahead in 2023! 🚀

This being said, district0x is overall decentralized and community-led. YOU are the pillars of our network and YOU decide how we grow moving forward! So we want to say THANK YOU to our community members, to all OGs who have stuck with us since the beginning, but also to the newcomers who have joined us this year, and to all who will continue to support us in 2023! Our entire district0x family wishes you the dankest Christmas and an even danker end of 2022! And remember whatever happens… keep BUIDLING! 💪

TL;DR of what we will cover this month:

If you missed the November update, check it out here.

Don’t forget, we’re still hiring! We continue growing our bullpen of developers in 2023 to build out the tools of the future! If you have any experience developing smart contracts or web3 dApps, please email talent@district0x.io with a resume and an overview of your experience. We’d love to have you on board!

Now, let’s dive right in!

Spotlighting the most important developments in web3

Spotlight: Digital Art in 2022 — by Henri.M

Something is happening in the contemporary art world, are you paying attention Anon?

In our latest Spotlight article, we dive deeper into the advances of digital art in the aftermath of the 2021 NFT bull run, igniting the next wave of contemporary art.

In the year 2022, digital art has reached new heights of sophistication and realism, thanks to advances in technology and the development of new software and hardware tools.

Focusing on new dimensions in digital art such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and AI, we take a closer look at virtual galleries like oncyber.io, as well as AI platforms such as DALL-E.

Overall, digital art in 2022 is a vibrant and dynamic field that continues to evolve and push the boundaries of what is possible with technology.

Most importantly, we explore the notion of art on the blockchain, better known as CryptoArt, and take a look at some of the most successful crypto artists of the year making their breakthroughs to the traditional art world.

Traditional art markets are often dominated by galleries and other intermediaries, who take a significant cut of the proceeds from art sales. By using the blockchain, artists can sell their work directly to collectors, without having to go through intermediaries.

Monthly Dev Updates

Meme Factory

Meme Factory’s new version on Polygon continues to run smoothly. Some isolated issues have been fixed, permitting us to move forward with integrating Push Protocol, expected to be fully functional in early 2023 and enabling users to receive push notifications, triggering alerts to remind them to reveal votes, collect rewards, and list their memes after they make it into the registry. Overall the integration will make the platform’s UX much smoother and should help the site’s traffic to grow exponentially.

Thanks to the latest updates, we will be able to host some larger meme contests on the platform in 2023! Stay tuned on MemeFactory0x.

Ethlance

The last test build & release of the monorepo are now finalized. Notifications have also been added to the migrated libraries and Ethlance has been updated to use the monorepo’s libraries. We’re getting closer to an upcoming launch in early 2023!

StreamTide

StreamTide’s beta testing environment is working smoothly. Daniel has fixed single funding round problems & updated the donate function to allow an array of addresses to receive funding instead of being sent out at one time. We’re continuing to test the platform and fix isolated issues to be ready for a full launch in the new year!
